A stroll in the park…

30 Aug

Yesterday was a GREAT day! I knew something was going on when Kristen was cutting up carrots, then packing lunch, and finally loading a big bag with treats,  a camera, and a book. She told me we were going for a ride to a special park for classy dogs (like me, of course).

We rode in the car for a while and when we got to our final destination, Hazelia Field Dog Park, I was most pleased. This was the nicest dog park I had ever been to. True, it is only my second dog park visit, but Kristen researched and said this is the best one and I completely agree. This dog park was located near some farms which I liked. I was hoping to get to stroll in the corn field nearby but Kristen says I am allergic to corn… boohoo. So instead, we checked out both dog park areas, the general “big dog” area and then the special area for small, shy, and timid dogs.  I met a lot of new dogs but I think the nicest was a 15-year old Greyhound. He was VERY tall! He was skinny too but that’s because he told me he is a retiree. I guess he used to race on a race track! He said it was a very hard job and he is liking retired life with his adopted family much better. I guess when he was working he didn’t get to live with nice people and have treats and a backyard. He traveled and lived in a little box which was sad to hear about. I think he is the hardest worker I have ever met! Him and I both had in common that were adopted although we all know I was the exact opposite of him as racer as I was a professional couch potato. Unfortunately, no pugs were at the park.

I mostly hung out with Kristen while she read. I tried to sit on the park bench, which is not made for pugs so that didn’t work out… I am not a fan of  small dogs that talk too much about their beauty routines and hair styles so we headed to the general “big dog” area. Person Kristen learned real fast that it is not smart to bring lunch to the dog park for herself. She should have just given the sandwich to me, then we would have had no problem with other dogs sniffing her salami sandwich while she tried to eat. Luckily for me, my carrots were unharmed as most dogs don’t like them at the dog park. They were all about the human food…Kristen says we probably won’t be back for the dog park because all I do is greet the humans and stand by them.  I don’t really chat with the dogs and run around. Unless there are pugs involved of course then I strut with best of them!

After we left the park, I didn’t have to ride in my kennel so I kept my head out of the window and whiffed the fresh air. We ended our day at PetSmart (a store for smart animals of all kinds) to buy  hay for the Guin. He has been getting very demanding in his old age so she had to buy the biggest bag. Then we headed home  for a siesta then dinner. Then for dessert I had a Greenie that Kristen snuck by me at PetSmart. What a good day… Then I took another siesta until my pre-bedtime walk and then I slept soundly all night. All in all, a very pug day.

Happy now. Mad later.

11 Aug

This tagline pretty much sums up my puggy week thus far.

First off, I got a rad new knee chew bone over the weekend. It was super good and made me very happy. This was a new treat for me and I hope that my obvious enjoyment will result in regular gifts of this delectable treat. Perhaps I was a bit too happy in receiving the bone because in my eagerness to enjoy said bone, I have chewed it too small and now I’m mad because it’s going in the garbage because person Kristen is worried I will swallow it! This is upsetting… I must be more subtle in my eagerness to enjoy treats…

Also, I haven’t had to use my pug fan in a week. It’s been GREAT! Walks have been longer and I’ve been able to work on staying in shape. I distracted many fellow walkers with my good looks as I strutted by… By using world wide webbie, I have found out the temperatures will be in the 90’s later this week. Looks like I will be inside and bored. Maybe I will get a new chew bone out of it??? One pug can only hope…

The Big Yard

27 Jul

You may be wondering when I refer to the Big Yard what I am talking about… Well, the Big Yard is one of my favorite places. It’s where kids go to something called school. I think school is probably like my training class I went to. I was the top of my class and I got treats all morning long. It was well worth it. I bet kids love school…

Here is a picture of me from the last time I went to the Big Yard. I was resting after playing some basketball with my person Eric. He dunked right over me… I am not meant for sports like basketball. I like wrestling and other sports where it is good to low to the ground. Recently since losing all my pudge, I realized how fast I am. I love to sprint across the Big Yard. Sometimes a crowd of people will stop and watch me. Never thought I would be admired for athletic ability.

Out and about to new places

19 Jul

This weekend my schedule was full! Saturday, I went to an official dog park for the first time! I never knew such places existed! While the rowdy big dogs were busy chasing toys and sniffing each other, I was getting all the attention I could get from their people. These dogs have it all wrong! Why chase a ball when you can get some great ear scratches and pets? I made many new people friends and not a single dog friend but that’s okay with me!

Sunday, we had another busy day… I went to an event for the Pacific Pug Rescue. They like it when I make an appearance. They say I’m their famous 47 pound boy. Maybe someday they will think of me as something other than a former fatso. I met a few new pug friends and saw my foster mom. Pug events are one of my favorite activities.  Last year at events when I was up for adoption, I would be on display and everyone could see all my chubs and rolls. It was embarrassing to be next to the young and energetic pugs. Luckily, my person’s Kristen & Eric liked me anyway.

After we visited my pug friends I went to another new place. It was some sort of store that was big and orange called Home Depot! Many of the people inside wearing orange came up and petted me. I like Home Depot. The only downside is that they do not sell any food so I did not get any treats. I like stores that let pugs go inside.

July is not my favorite month at all…

15 Jul

This has been a rough month… From excessive fireworks hurting my little pug ears, to the excessive heat, to brawling with the Goldens, and feeling under the weathers. I do not like July. July is no fun for pugs. I have logged way too many hours in front of my pug fan…

First, it was the 4th of July. I do not like fireworks. I do not like them at all. For many nights I craved ear muffs. I am not a fun pug when the big booms go on and on. I bark, I run, I jump, I hide! Luckily, my people decided to stay home with me and they gave me some sort of special magic treat that makes me really tired… It was a very nice sleep… I don’t mind fireworks when I get the magic treats. We watched a movie and I ate popcorn crummies…

After the 4th of July came the hottest sun this pug has felt in a while… It was scorching my paws and I don’t like walking in the heat. My walks were minimal and my person and I avoided the sidewalks by walking on grass but I still did not feel like my pugself. My days were spent in front of the pug fan… I couldn’t go to the big yard or anywheres fun. No car rides either… Very depressing. Luckily, it cooled to more  puglike temperatures after a week but I still require my pug fan and daily naps in front of cold air box in the window.

We have had an interesting week at home… First, my Eric person has been gone from the time I eat breakfast to the time I go on my night time walk! What is that about? I gave him some pugitude because I do not appreciate him being gone so much. My Kristen person is great but she doesn’t play as rough or chase me like Eric person. My blogging too has been delayed as my little friend Feng Shui got bored on Sunday and chewed through the wire that hooks us to to the world wide web… He doesn’t have a blog so I am guessing he did it because he is jealous of me… I had to sneak down the block to the place with where my people go to get the books so I could write today.

Yesterday, I got to go to the office. I was very excited… So not long after we get there, we go to get some supplies in the room with all the people on phones… WELL, to my surprise, there were two Goldens down there. The one chick looked pretty friendly and sniffed me out. Her male friend though, he and I clashed. It was a tangle of this pug stud and one big golden chicken… I came out top dog of course. Rumor is that they will not be leaving for an entire month! No trips to the office for me… To top off my exciting day my tum tum was upset and I got sick… I think I’m just having a tough week. My Eric person is supposed to take me to the big yard today. We’ll see. He has been a little too absent lately and I have a sneaky plan to not let him sleep in this weekend like he likes… hehehehehe hahahahahah operation no snooze is under way soon!

My Forever Home. One Year Later.

27 Jun

This is a very special weekend. It was one year ago this week that my pugself was adopted!

This time last year, this pudgy pug never thought he would have his special home where he would receive love and the special pug time he craved… I am very happy to say that one year, and 16 pounds later I am the happiest pug on EARTH! I try to be the best pug I can be everyday so I can show my two favorite persons how happy I am to live with them. I think they know because on my special adoption anniversary I got extra cuddle time and a few more peanut butter bones than normal…

I never thought I would have two persons love me so much. They have taken me many places this year… from the beach, to camping near the big mountain, and Sunriver. I have gotten to see the whole wide world! Lucky puggy!

Where will next year take us? One thing I know is that wherever we go it will be with us together because we are the perfect pug pack!

I wouldn’t be anywhere without the group that helped me find my home, The Pacific Pug Rescue. They’re the great pug lovin’ people who help all pugs find forever homes. They take in big pugs, little pugs, baby pugs, sick pugs, and old pugs too. I can’t even think about where I would be if I didn’t get found by them… Better stop talking about that or this pug will get water eyes and snifflies.

Anyway, I better go now… my person says it’s time for dinner and that is one thing I can’t be late for…

Pug Fan

23 Jun

It is essential for any pug to have a designated Pug Fan, not one for all person’s living in the house but just for pug use. This is what keeps a cool and happy Puggy all summer long. Now that summer finally seems like it’s here, I insisted my person Eric bring up my fan. It is essential to use Pug Fan properly. It requires said pug to plop in front and let all the rolls hang out in order to properly cool. My person Kristen got a picture of me using my Pug Fan last year. I was pretty warm and with my big bod I got too hot just walking around the house! I don’t look too happy because I was just so BIG… You won’t see those pudgy pug rolls this year! Later, I’ll have my person post a new picture of me using my Pug Fan with the new bod…
I like not getting soggy on my walks. Summer makes pug life good even if I have to use my Pug Fan everyday!
